Campus Crush 7

Part 7

Yonghwa approached Joohyun before the last beat of the song, gave her his guitar pick and instructed her to strum it on his guitar strings.

While she was at it, she held Yonghwa’s piercing gaze with newfound excitement as she felt the strings trembled from the pick’s touch. She has mastered the piano and learned violin from her mom but for some reason the guitar has always been interesting. She enclosed the pick tightly with her hands place it near her beating heart as the music come to an end.

Yonghwa grinned at her, he placed his guitar on its stand and made his way in front of her. “You play these things?” he asked running his fingers on the keyboard.

Joohyun nodded in response. She felt the pick’s dull edges poked her soft palm, she opened her clasped hand and tried to return his pick but he refused saying it’s a gift. She smiled, mumbled a thank you and secured it inside her bag.

“I hope you can allow us to hear your favorite piece” Yonghwa smiled at her, turned on the keyboard and motioned her to play.

Joohyun looked around the room, she didn’t know when it happened but all are somewhat in pairs now. Hyoyeon and Jungshin are seated side by side, and obviously flirting with each other. Tiffany and Minhyuk are standing near the drums and she can sense a shy aura around them while conversing. Jonghyun was towering over Jessica who was seated and giving Jonghyun a distasteful look after hearing what he said, she saw him smirked and they started to argue but it seems like they are enjoying themselves than arguing.

And lastly them, Seo Joohyun and Jung Yonghwa, between them is the keyboard ready to be caressed by her fingers and produced beautiful music. She sighed, no one seems to notice the two of them, her eyes flew back to Yonghwa whose eyes bored on her and she felt her heart thumped harder on her chest, a surge of warm feeling on her cheeks and she knew she was blushing. She averted her gaze to the waiting keyboard, and started to play, it is better to play than to get drowned in his piercing but soulful and beautiful eyes.

The moment Joohyun played, the whole room listened and was captivated but not as captivated or captured as Yonghwa.

Yonghwa stared in awe, as her slender fingers in fluid motion caressed the keyboard and made soothing sounds. The late afternoon light that peeked in from the window at her back shone and gave off just the right amount of light to captivate a beautiful picture. He felt his chest, afraid his heart might burst or literally ran to the prettiest girl he has ever laid eyes on. He was so into it that he didn’t know the music has ended.

Seohyun looked up at the awe stricken Yonghwa after the piece. She was waiting for his comments but it hasn’t come which made her uneasy “Was it weird? But I think I played okay” she thought to herself, a little disappointed and insecure

Jungshin stood and walked towards his hyung, he pushed his jaw up to a close and whispered to his ear “Hyung stop embarrassing yourself. It pains me” he snickers and walked away just before a smack could land at the occipital portion of his head.

Yonghwa clapped his face bright red “Wow! You’re a genius!” he covered up for his trance “Right guys?!” he looked back and glared at his members, who took pity on him and helped

“Yes, you really played well Joohyun-ssi” Minhyuk clicked his sticks together for what seems like applause, drummer style.

“Yes, good enough to be a solo pianist or become a member of a band” even the burning Jonghyun helped

Yonghwa stared at Jungshin whose eyes has a playful mirth, a smirk on his face always spelled trouble, Yonghwa felt like it was eternity when the maknae started to produce words “Why play as a soloist, it’s a bore. You can play with us if you like. We need a keyboardist, right hyung?”

Yonghwa puffed out a relieved sigh when Jungshin talked but it was short lived, as the implications in his words hit him like lightning. How can he perform at his best if he is distracted? His eyes roamed around looking at those expectant faces, he sighed and made a decision “She can play with us as a guest keyboardist when we play their song” he motioned his hand to the trio

“It’s a great idea!” Hyo exclaimed Tiffany and Jessica nodded. They gave their song pieces to Yonghwa.

“Oh and If you seek Amy? Hmnn, nice choice of songs, I’ll arrange this tonight to have a slight rock feel on it so that we can play it for you, I can do this for a night but school stuff gets in the way, so I’ll hand it to you after two days.” Yonghwa said. The girls agreed to meet after two days in the same practice room and excused themselves.

They practiced three more songs and CNBLUE is done for the day.

Joohyun dressed in her pink set of pajamas sat on the edge of her bed, she stared on the wall blankly and sighed, on her hand is a book, she was reading a particular page again and again for 30 minutes but didn’t understand a thing. She closed the book in frustration. This has not happened before, nothing can distract her while reading, her tiny little world was invaded by an alien called Yonghwa. She reached out for her bag and look for the guitar pick he gave earlier.

She let her back touch the cottony soft bed and held the pick in front of her face. The blue pick has CNBLUE name on it, she flipped it on the other side “Yonghwa” she read, she ran the tips of her fingers on the letters of his name. She felt her heart flutter.

She might be innocent when it comes to boys but she is not naïve. She is not called the smartest girl in their class for nothing. She knew she found him interesting and attractive, and though she doesn’t want to accept it to herself yet she knew she; Seo Joohyun has come to like, for the very first time in her life a boy, named Jung Yonghwa.

She stood lazily and head to the master’s bedroom. Her parents on their bed with lamps on, both are reading. Her mother averted her gaze as she felt her presence. “Yes dear?” her solemn and loving voice made her father look up expectantly

She crawled between her parents like she used to as a child. “Oh!” her parents were surprised but pleased, she can tell. They missed their only daughter, their kid daughter. A smile spreads on her lips.

The kid in her was rekindled as she saw their reaction “Omma, Appa” she spoke in a perfect nasal tone, doing her perfect aegyo. And she saw her mom’s face softened and her dad pinched her cheek.

“What is it my princess?” her dad said while putting his book on the bedside table.

She sighed and look at the expectant faces of her parents “Mom, I want to learn a lot about someone, I want to read that person’s autobiography but it’s impossible”

“Did I just buy Ban Ki Moon’s autobiography for you? You want another one? What’s the name? I’ll buy it for you” her dad answered

“Why is it impossible dear?” her mom asked, completely ignoring her dad’s statement, she sensed that there’s something bothering their angel

Joohyun smiled, feeling completely loved. She salutes her mom to always know what she meant or how she feels “I met someone today, someone I want to read. I wish that someone has a published autobiography”

A knowing smile stated to curve on her mother’s lips “You wanted to know more about this person that’s why you wanted to read that person’s autobiography?” she asked carefully, trust her daughter to spill the beans on them in an unusual way “By any chance, is this someone a boy?” her mother’s eyes gleamed

“You wanted to get to know a boy more?!” her dad’s eyes widened, surprise, protectiveness and jealousy was mixed in his voice.

Her mom gave her dad the look, tapped his hand that is on Joohyun’s silky black hair to calm him and motioned him to relocate.

He sighed deeply and nodded, he stood and left the room “I’ll be at the study room if you need me” he shook his head as he opened the door “My baby has grown up.” He whispered to himself “But what’s with the girl talk?” he muttered, gave his lovely ladies one last look before he left

Joohyun and her mom giggled after her father pressed the door close. “He’s just concerned and a little jealous” her mom guided her to sit in front of the dresser, reached for a hair brush and started to comb her daughter’s hair. “Now, start from the first meeting” their eyes met on the mirror, her mom smiled gently. “My daughter has grown up fast, aigoo” she said while preparing herself to listen attentively
